Onset Announces METAmessage for Wireless™ Customer Wins, Adds Major Reseller, And Optimizes BlackBerry™ User Experience With New Ease-of-Use Applet
Bechtel, PepsiCo, and Pfizer Join the Ranks of METAmessage for Wireless Users; Wireless Knowledge Joins Onset Resellers; New Applet Displays Excel Spreadsheets and PowerPoint Slides in Original Format and Adds "One-Click" Attachment Retrieval
San Diego, CA - Onset Technology reinforced its position as the leader in message-conversion solutions today when it announced several new METAmessage for Wireless™ customers, the addition of Wireless Knowledge as a reseller, and the introduction of a new downloadable applet for BlackBerry handheld device users. The new applet makes it even easier to use METAmessage to read and print email attachments, particularly Excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint slides. The company made the announcements here at the CTIA WIRELESS I.T. & INTERNET 2001 show being held at the San Diego Convention Center, September 11th through 13th.
Adding Bechtel, PepsiCo, and Pfizer as Onset customers shows the company's continuing success in penetrating the Fortune 100 market with its METAmessage for Wireless solutions. Onset's other blue-chip customers include CBS/Viacom, Hunt Oil, Litton Industries, Northrop Grumman, and Universal Studios, among others. By furthering its relationship with Wireless Knowledge so that the Microsoft and Qualcomm company moves from recommending Onset's products to being a certified METAmessage for Wireless reseller, Onset hopes to gain even greater market presence among Fortune 100 and other corporate customers looking to mobilize their information.
BlackBerry Applet Enhances Excel, PowerPoint Display
Onset's new applet makes it just as easy to read a spreadsheet or slide on the BlackBerry as it is on a desktop PC. The applet lets users view Excel and PowerPoint files in their original format on the BlackBerry screen, displaying Excel spreadsheet data in adjustable-width, ruled columns and letting users move horizontally and vertically through any size spreadsheet. Other features let users read and print attachments and Web pages and get corporate contact information with one-click ease via a METAmessage menu. Previously, BlackBerry owners needed to use a series of menus and "clicks" in order to retrieve an attachment.
"Tens of thousands of handheld device users in settings ranging from small offices to Fortune 100 sites have chosen METAmessage to provide a comprehensive email attachment solution," said Gadi Mazor, president and CEO for Onset. "The introduction of this new ease-of-use applet further increases mobile productivity for BlackBerry handheld users and strengthens our position as the leading email attachment provider for the BlackBerry solution."
The applet will be available this month as a free download from the company's www.metamessage.com and www.onsettechnology.com Web sites. Applet users not yet registered for the METAmessage for Wireless service will automatically receive a two-week free trial of the METAmessage service.
