Motient Announces the Availability of BlackBerry by Motient for Lotus Notes and Domino

Lotus Domino Support Will Double the Number of Potential Corporate Users for BlackBerry by Motient

Reston, VA - Motient Corporation (NASDAQ: MTNT) today announced the availability of BlackBerry™ by Motient for Lotus® Domino™, a corporate enterprise solution for providing wireless email. This introduction dramatically increases the number of potential business people who can now use the BlackBerry solution on the Motient wireless data network. Currently there are more than 41 million users of the Lotus Notes application according to research firm IDC.

BlackBerry is a popular wireless email solution that was developed by Research In Motion Limited (RIM) (NASDAQ:RIMM) that operates on the Motient™ network. RIM is also a manufacturer of wireless handhelds including the units used by Motient in providing its own eLinkSM branded wireless email service.

BlackBerry by Motient initially supported large corporations using Microsoft Exchange. The addition of BlackBerry for Lotus Domino provides a larger opportunity for obtaining customers from one organization, as Lotus implementations often take place in larger companies.

"We are very excited to deliver what Domino/Notes users have long been asking for: Lotus Notes working with BlackBerry," said Walter V. Purnell, Jr., CEO and president of Motient Corporation. "This offering fits perfectly into our corporate objective of providing service to as many different kinds of enterprise customers as possible. Now Lotus users can enjoy wireless email delivered on the largest and most reliable data network in the country."

BlackBerry by Motient combines two of the most popular wireless handhelds on the market with the unmatched capacity, reliability, geographic reach and deep in-building penetration of the Motient wireless data network. Motient provides wireless data services to such blue-chip companies as UPS, IBM, AT&T, and NCR.

"BlackBerry by Motient for Lotus Notes is a great solution," said Lee Farin, senior project manager of the law firm, Kaye Scholer LLP. "We've been using the service for a number of months and everything's running smoothly. With Motient's great network, I can now access my email wherever and whenever I want."
