PointBase® Demonstrates World's First Enterprise Data Synchronization Across Multiple Devices and Networks
Successful Demonstration at Java on Wall Street Conference of Data Synchronization Among Popular Mobile Devices and Networks Via a J2EE™ Application Server
Mountain View, Calif - PointBase, Inc., the leader in Java™ database and synchronization technology for managing enterprise data among servers, mobile and pervasive computing devices, announced today the successful demonstration at the Java on Wall Street conference of enterprise data synchronization among multiple devices and networks using PointBase UniSync 4.2. Integrating PointBase UniSync 4.2 into the Kyocera 6035 Smart Phone, the Compaq iPaq, the Motorola i90 Handset and the BlackBerry Wireless Handheld™, PointBase engineers successfully synchronized enterprise data among the mobile devices over multiple wireless carrier networks via a J2EE application server to an enterprise database.
Introduced in early February 2002, PointBase UniSync 4.2 represents a major technology advancement by supporting data synchronization between Java-enabled mobile devices supporting J2ME™ or J2SE™ and enterprise databases via J2EE application servers. This latest release extends the current PointBase UniSync capability by enabling synchronization of data between enterprise databases and PointBase databases using J2EE application servers, increasing performance by almost 1,000%.
"It is gratifying to see the benefit of all the hard work our employees and partners committed to bringing our new product suite - Version 4.2 - to the market," said Bruce Scott, founder and CEO of PointBase, Inc. "Since all enterprises eventually must be able to work with customers and partners operating in heterogeneous environments, PointBase is well positioned to provide its database and synchronization technologies to multiple markets."
The PointBase UniSync 4.2 demonstration used the Contact Manager Sync on MIDP sample application, one of the many sample applications included with the latest evaluation version of PointBase. This sample application shows how the PointBase database and synchronization products can be used in various ways, including PIM (personal information management) applications. The synchronization demonstration used PointBase Micro for J2ME MIDP clients such as the Motorola i90 Handset and J2ME PJava clients such as the Compaq iPaq. These clients then synchronized data via a J2EE application server to an enterprise database.
