OuterCurve Technologies Acquires Vaultus' Wireless Service Division
New York, NY - OUTERCURVE Technologies™, a leading provider of wireless applications and services, has acquired the assets and personnel of Vaultus' Wireless Services Division strengthening its position as a leading provider of the BlackBerry™ platform and application services.
"We are excited to have acquired the Vaultus Wireless Services Division and its BlackBerry subscribers. This acquisition expands our customer base and wireless mobility experience allowing us to increase the audience for our FMS™ (Financial Management System), Portable World™ and Launcher™ solutions. Customer demand for mobile applications will continue to expand in 2003 and companies with established customers and field proven wireless applications are positioned to prosper," said Derek Roga, Outercurve Chief Executive Officer. "This positions us for profitability in 2003."
"This is a win-win transaction for both companies," says Andrew Singer, Executive Vice President of Vaultus. "By selling our BlackBerry subscribers and wireless network activation business to Outercurve, Vaultus is now able to focus exclusively on its industry-leading mobile infrastructure software and our growing list of end-user customers, ISV and integrator partners using our development platform."
Outercurve's Portable World is a suite of customizable information services for the mobile professional including news, weather, stock quotes, sports and travel directions. FMS provides financial professionals the flexibility and freedom to instantly access real-time financial information and frees the individual and institutional investor from their tethered desktop. Both FMS and Portable World operate within the Outercurve Launcher - a client-based application framework that organizes and executes wireless applications on a variety of handheld devices.
According to Bill Rom, previous Vice President of Vaultus' Wireless Services Division and newly appointed Outercurve President, "This transaction allows us to seamlessly transfer the BlackBerry subscribers to Outercurve without any service interruption and also expands the wireless mobility solutions and applications we can offer our customers."
Through its association with leading wireless carriers, content and third-party software providers, Outercurve is dedicated to successfully liberating today's mobile professionals from the restrictions of yesterday's wired technologies.
