Flowfinity Brings Benefits of Wireless Applications to Government

Local Government Solution to Be Showcased at Wireless Enterprise Symposium

New Orleans, LA - Flowfinity Wireless, a leading provider of wireless application products and platforms, today announced that one of its customers will present a case study at the Wireless Enterprise Symposium this week in New Orleans. Snohomish County in Washington State has created a wireless application for its safety inspectors in the field. Flowfinity will be using this event to roll out its strategy for Government solutions on BlackBerry Wireless Handhelds. At Booth B15, Flowfinity will be demonstrating its products and platforms that meet the many wireless application needs of government.

"Flowfinity has been active in identifying applications for its wireless products and platforms," said Larry Wilson, Flowfinity's VP of Sales and Marketing. "With the successful implementation of our technology by Snohomish County and our growing network of solution providers and resellers, we are well positioned to provide the quality of technology and level of support that government clients demand."

Flowfinity provides plug-and-play business application products for basic data collection and data publishing, and also provides a deep platform technology for highly customizable functionality and deep integration.

Flowfinity's Forms Server and Reports Server can be used to automate government data handling such as:

  • Inspections (fire, safety)
  • Surveys
  • Security Reporting
  • Project Reporting

Flowfinity's platform technology, Thinflow, enables rapid application integration between BlackBerry Wireless Handhelds and enterprise applications within government such as:

  • Service Delivery Systems for Work Dispatch
  • Registration and Permit Systems
  • Parking Violation Printing/Tracking Systems
  • Customized Workflow for Field Force Automation (including customized business processes for Inspections and Dispatch)Snohomish

County implemented Flowfinity's Thinflow in a Wireless Fire & Life Safety Inspection application. Inspectors were given wireless access to a pre-existing inspection system through a Thinflow enabled client on BlackBerry Wireless Handhelds from Research In Motion (RIM) (Nasdaq:RIMM); (TSX:RIM).

"We were very pleased with the results we received by implementing Flowfinity technology on BlackBerry® handhelds," said Eric Drenckpohl of Snohomish County's Department of Information Systems. "We were able to leverage systems and development skills we already had in-house and produce a fully-integrated inspection system in a relatively short amount of time. We were able to reduce costs and improve the quality of our work in the field."

The Snohomish case study highlights the following benefits:

  • reduced costs
  • direct to back-end database data flow
  • enhanced reporting capability
  • enhanced data quality
  • enhanced productivity

"BlackBerry is popular in government organizations because it provides an integrated, easy-to-use solution that has been certified to meet strict government security standards," said Mark Guibert, Vice President, Brand Management at Research In Motion. "With Flowfinity's Thinflow and BlackBerry, government organizations like Snohomish County can increase productivity in the field with a cost effective solution."

Unlike browser-based solutions where continuous wireless coverage is essential, Snohomish's use of Flowfinity's Thinflow platform enabled inspectors to document their inspections both in and out of coverage areas, keeping them productive even deep within concrete buildings or in the rural countryside.

Flowfinity products and platforms are available for BlackBerry Wireless Handhelds running on the following global networks: AT&T Wireless, Bell Mobility, Cingular Wireless, Hutchison, Nextel, O2, Rogers AT&T Wireless, Telstra, TELUS Mobility, TIM, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless, and Vodafone.

With its expanding global partner network with partners in the United States, Canada, Australia and Europe, Flowfinity and its partners are well positioned to bring the benefits of wireless solutions to Governments everywhere.
