Onset Technology Announces Full Support for BlackBerry Enterprise Server v3.5 and Mobile Data Service from RIM

Company's METAmessage GetData Software is Among the First Major Applications to Use RIM's New Mobile Data Service Feature for Corporate Data Access

SANTA CRUZ, Calif., - Onset Technology, a leading developer of mobile productivity software, today announced full support for the new BlackBerry Enterprise Server v3.5 including the Mobile Data Service feature. Onset's METAmessage® for Wireless 4.0 software is now completely enabled to support the BlackBerry Mobile Data Service feature, making it possible for BlackBerry™ handheld users to access and retrieve data directly from corporate information sources by simply opening a form, entering information, and clicking Submit. There is no need to launch a browser and IT staff can quickly and easily configure various back-end connectors.

Research In Motion (RIM) (Nasdaq: RIMM - News; TSX: RIM - News) recently introduced the new BlackBerry Enterprise Server v3.5, which incorporates Mobile Data Service, a feature that allows push-based access to enterprise applications for wireless users. Onset, which has offered a range of data-access capabilities for earlier BlackBerry server software versions, has now reconfigured its popular METAmessage GetData software to run seamlessly with all versions of BlackBerry Enterprise Server software. Onset has also partnered with iManage® (WorkSite™ document management) and Hummingbird/DOCS Open (Hummingbird DM™ document management), to make their products accessible to BlackBerry handhelds using METAmessage.

"Mobile Data Service is an important new enabling technology for BlackBerry," said Stewart Fox, vice president of marketing and sales for Onset. "We feel strongly that data access represents the next wave for enterprise users, and the combination of METAmessage and BlackBerry Mobile Data Service offers a complete solution that can be easily deployed immediately." Fox also noted that METAmessage extends the full range of data-access capabilities to both new and older BlackBerry handhelds. This enables system administrators to operate mixed environments (XML, HTTP, WML, email, and C++) as they deploy the newest BlackBerry products.
