Sonic Mobility Announces Availability of sonicadmin 3.0
Sonic Mobility (www.sonicmobility.com) today announced the availability of sonicadmin 3.0, loaded with new features including the ability to remotely manage Microsoft Exchange Server and Active Directory Organizational Units (OUs), and optional RSA (RSAS) SecurID user authentication security.
sonicadmin 3.0 is the latest version of Sonic Mobility's complete remote administration utility that allows system administrators and support workers to securely perform complete Windows server and network management tasks on a 24x7 basis from a Pocket PC or BlackBerry handheld wireless device. sonicadmin also provides secure access and management of third party applications such as Net IQ AppManager, BlackBerry Enterprise Server and OpalisRobot.
Version 3.0 boasts the ability to securely access and manage Microsoft Exchange, new VT-100 Terminal Emulation and the ability to use RSA SecurID authentication.
Users can now use their handheld device to securely manage their Microsoft Exchange infrastructure from virtually anywhere, including the ability to create/modify contact email addresses, add/edit SMTP proxy addresses, manage storage limits, and more.
With sonicadmin 3.0, users also now have an enhanced security level option with built-in RSA SecurID two-factor authentication. SecurID offers additional network 'perimeter' security for those organizations that rely on SecurID for secure network access. When SecurID authentication is enabled on the sonicadmin Console, the mobile user must authenticate with the RSA ACE server before they are allowed to access sonicadmin. Only mobile users that have successfully authenticated with the RSA ACE server are granted access to sonicadmin.

"Users will be hard pressed to find any other single solution that gives them more comprehensive remote and secure system management features for today's most popular handheld devices."
The ability to remotely manage key Windows Server functions has also been expanded in version 3.0. Users can now manage the Windows Server Active Directory OUs that a user belongs to, manage local and domain users, and set/modify user account expiration dates.
In addition to the existing command line-mode interface for management of Telnet and SSH systems and devices, version 3.0 has added VT-100 Terminal Emulation for secure mobile management of VT-100 systems and applications. This new feature is particularly useful where line-mode commands are insufficient, such as Unix VI text editors and Nortel Switch interfaces.
sonicadmin 3.0 also includes other enhancements such as a new MMC snap-in console interface and enhanced data compression for improved wireless performance.
Customers who have purchased sonicadmin from Microsoft (NADSAQ: MSFT) as part of the Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Mobile Admin Pack are entitled to a free upgrade to this new release.
