Inciscent's IC2 to Provide Remote BlackBerry Enterprise Server Management

Falls Church, VA - Inciscent, Inc., the leading supplier of remote enterprise management software, has launched enhanced capabilities of its IC2 (Infrastructure Command & Control) solution to include a new software Plug-in for management and monitoring functionality of BlackBerry Enterprise Server™ from Research In Motion (RIM) (Nasdaq:RIMM; TSX: RIM).

IC2 is the industry leading solution that enables IT professionals to securely manage, configure and troubleshoot critical enterprise computing infrastructure, including networks and servers, as well as applications and users, in real time, from virtually any location via the web or wireless networks.

With the rapid adoption of the BlackBerry® wireless solution among enterprise users, ensuring high availability of email systems and wireless data services is critical for IT operations professionals. IC2 allows IT administrators to receive alerts about the state of their BlackBerry Enterprise Server and use their BlackBerry Wireless Handheld™ to immediately begin the diagnostic and remedial process necessary to maintain system availability. The IC2 BlackBerry Enterprise Server Plug-in is designed so that management and recovery functions can be performed from a BlackBerry handheld, even if the BlackBerry Enterprise Server is unavailable.

"The BlackBerry solution has become a standard tool in many enterprises where end users require remote access to email and enterprise applications. With a solution like IC2, it is now possible to better ensure availability of this mission-critical server that has become so heavily relied upon by mobile workers," said Tom Matthews, CEO and president of Inciscent.

IC2 and the BlackBerry solution allow IT administrators to use their BlackBerry handhelds to perform secure BlackBerry Enterprise Server management functions, such as:

  • Monitor and view status, critical states and information
  • Monitor and view connection states
  • Manage user mailboxes (add, delete, modify users)
  • Import users from Microsoft® Exchange or other address books
  • Manage and administrate Mobile Data Services
  • Manage and administrate critical processes, services, users and more

The BlackBerry Enterprise Server Management Plug-in is now part of the IC2 suite of system management tools and is also available as an upgrade to existing customers. This module is supported on Java™-based BlackBerry handhelds, Java/BREW/WAP phones, PocketPC, Linux, Palm OS-based devices and via the IC2 Web Console.
