Onset Technology Introduces Its First Enterprise Product Designed For The Legal Profession
New METAmessage for Wireless - Legal Gives BlackBerry Users Integration with iManage WorkSite, Hummingbird DM, and Other Document Management Systems
LegalTech Showcase, New York, New York - Onset Technology, a leading developer of mobile enterprise software, has introduced a new version of its popular METAmessage® for Wireless software featuring connectivity designed especially for law firms and the legal community. METAmessage for Wireless - Legal is among the first software applications to give handheld users fast access to enterprise-wide document management systems such as iManage® WorkSite™ and Hummingbird DM™.
The new application offers secure access to document management systems from a BlackBerry or other handheld device. CRM software databases are also compatible, with support for Interface Software's InterAction™ solution expected within Q1. Users can also obtain network files and other corporate data including client contact information.
"These capabilities can give attorneys a constant connection to all the resources in a document management system," said David Gregson, Director of Information Services for Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky & Popeo P.C. in Boston. "Whether an attorney is meeting with a client or sitting in a courtroom, being able to access any case file, abstract, or client record in seconds is an extremely powerful feature, especially in places where cell phones are prohibited."
New Software Includes Remote Print Capability
By expanding handheld capabilities, METAmessage decreases mobile attorneys' reliance on laptops and dialup connections, making important corporate data - not just email - available anywhere, anytime. In addition, METAmessage for Wireless - Legal allows BlackBerry users to open, read, and print email attachments, Web pages, and other corporate data. The remote printing capability includes printing to network printers and fax machines with no special set-up by an administrator.
Onset has configured METAmessage for Wireless - Legal to work seamlessly with both iManage WorkSite and Hummingbird DM, two of the leading document management systems serving the legal profession. In addition, METAmessage is currently developing a connector for Interface Software's InterAction, providing easy access to client information and Relationship Intelligence. InterAction is the leading client relationship management software used by law firms.
"METAmessage is ideally suited for the legal profession," said Gadi Mazor, president and CEO of Onset. "We currently have well over a hundred legal firms actively using METAmessage, of which over a third are in the AmLaw Top 100, and the one request we've heard most from them is to integrate the program with the leading document management systems, so that's what we've done. This is our first product tailored to the very specific needs of a particular industry or profession. Based on the early response, we expect to follow with similar product suites fine-tuned for other verticals."
METAmessage for Wireless - Legal lets a user select a form, enter data, and click Submit to send it to the METAmessage Conversion Server. The server then queries the document management system and replies to the user with the requested information such as a legal brief. Since the wireless connection uses a store-and-forward model, there is no risk of losing data if the signal is lost. If desired, custom forms can be created by a system administrator using the METAmessage form designer.
